THIRD INTERDISCIPLINARY CONFERENCE OF
THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF THE ARTS, MATHEMATICS AND ARCHITECTURE ***
Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, July 22 - 26, 2002
Following the success of the first Conference ISAMA99 at the University of The Basque
Country, San Sebastian, Spain and ISAMA2000 at The University at Albany, Albany, New York,
USA, we invite you in 2002 to attend our third Conference in Freiburg im Breisgau,
Germany, the capital of the Black Forest.
The Conference will take place in the University of Education at Freiburg in cooperation
with the University at Albany - N.Y.,USA.
The languages of the conference will be English and German (with translations).

The programme for the conference includes plenary adresses with invited speakers,
paper sessions with componists, musicians, artists, scientists of the arts,
archtitects, teachers and mathematicians from Europe and abroad, workshops and
forums. Musical performances, a small exhibition of modern art and a special installation
for the ISAMA2002 (by G. Baschek) will accompany the conference.
There will be scientific-cultural visits to the Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie
(with exhibition "Iconoclash") in Karlsruhe, to the Vitra - Museum in Weil
(Guided visites to the buildings created by Ando und Zahid) and to the Museum
Beyeler (architecture by R.Piano and exhibition "Monet")
Sub - themes of the meeting will be:
- Mathematics and contemporary art
- Mathematics and culture in the past and presence
- Links between modern architecture and mathematics
- Architecture, arts and mathematics in the future school
The conference fee is 225 Euros (students 100 EUROs).
It will include
- all excursions
- all common events as
reception of the city Freiburg,
social dinner
reception at the vernissage of the art exhibition
coffee and some snacks at the coffee breaks
printed little programm book with short communications of
all lectures
(eventuelly the transfers between hotel and ISAMA2002,
discussion not finished)

The opening ceremony (free and public) will take place on
Monday, July 22nd at 10 a.m. combined with the presentation of Prof. Eugen Gomringer:
"Mathematics and Culture".
